Bret Rappaport Reflections on Wild Ones Founder Lorrie Otto

Please join us for our monthly meeting on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 7PM at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Trail, Elgin, IL. We are happy to have Bret Rappaport speak about Lorrie Otto, the person who was the inspiration for and one of the founders of Wild Ones, and who Bret calls the Godmother of Naturalist Landscaping. Bret is a partner with the Chicago law firm of Hardt, Stern & Kayne based in Riverwoods,IL , and is a nationally recognized authority on municipal regulations affecting natural landscapers.He has argued the cause of natural landscaping in state and federal courts and has spoken across the country in support of natural landscaping and gardening with native plants.

Bret wrote an article about Mrs. Otto for the NatiLorrie Ottoonal Wildlife Federation (https://www.nwf.org/News-and-Magazines/National-Wildlife/News-and-Views/Archives/1996/American-Heroes-Lorrie-Otto.aspx), highlighting Mrs. Otto’s original forays into landscaping with native plants. He will speak to us on the enduring legacy of Lorrie Otto and the impact she has had on our the native landscaping movement.
